There's no way out ...

Most random story ever. Are you ready?

The Borders in San Jose, the one that is closest to my house, is one of the stores that closing. Since everything is running 20%-40% off and Heather had to drop Hailey off at the movies yesterday in SJ (leaving her with a few hours to kill) we decided to stop by and see if there was anything that caught our fancy.

OMG! I kid you not, there were at least 100 people waiting in line to pay. ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE! I'm not even joking about this. It was worse than shopping on Black Friday. It was worse than the year I thought it would be a good idea to go to WalMart on Black Friday. I'm still scarred by that, btw.

Anyway. It was just awful. There were tons and tons of people, the shelves looked like they'd been nearly looted, there were books on the floor and the line was monstrous. I didn't even know that many people were allowed in the store at one time. Honestly, the prices weren't all that fabulous either. Let's see, in the romance section a $8 book was running at 30% off putting the price around $5.60. That's not terrible and it's still better than full price but it wasn't worth the hour plus long wait to pay. Not for me.

So, H and I took an abbreviated turn around the store, got freaked out by the sheer press of humanity and fled. We ended up going to a Japanese restaurant for dinner instead. The food was good but the waiter kinda forgot about us, which sucked. Especially when we were ready to pay so we could leave.

You know, both shopping and eating yesterday left a lot to be desired.

Okay. The kids are on vacation this week. Cole's visiting his grandparents in Carmel and Hailey and I are watching Disney movies. Pretty sweet, huh?

I have some posts I want to get ready at the book blog. I must go.
