It's time to weigh-in!

So. We went berry picking today. It was hot but the breeze was nice. The berries we originally went to pick were ... let's just say that they were seriously picked over (ha! a little play on words). After an hour or so of not-so-great berry finding, we switched over to the boysenberry patch. Holy Toledo! Those bad boys were dripping from the bushes. I felt like we got twice as many berries picked over there in half the time. It was awesome!

Here's the part that makes my face sad: I took pictures of the kids picking. I even posted the one of Hailey on Twitter. After we got home I tried to post the one of Cole. Alas, my phone froze the fuck up and now the touch screen won't turn on at all. I know the phone itself is on because it rings when I get a call but I can't answer the call because it's a fucking touch screen and I have no idea where I need to be touching it.

Needless to say, it looks like I'm going to be making a trip to Verizon tomorrow. I'm hoping it's something easily fixable and doesn't require getting a replacement phone because I don't want to download my apps again. Yes, I am lazy. L-A-Z-Y. I accept this about myself.

On the writing front, I sat down to finish up that chapter last night and it just wasn't happening. Today? I was a little bit tired after the berry picking experience and took a long-ass nap. So. Not so much writing done since yesterday's word count. A couple hundred words at best.

It's cool, though, because I finished a book.
Book #101 - Infinity (Chronicles of Nick #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon - I pretty much loved this book. Let's see - it had Zombies, Dark-Hunters, Demons, and Gods. What more do you need in life? This book follows Nick Gautier at age 14 with the twist that it's an alternate reality from the events that we've learned about in previous Dark-Hunter books. At least, I assume it's an alternate reality. If things go as planned, will Nick's destiny take a turn in the regular DH books? Or is all this a "what if" story line? I don't know! I.Don't.Know. However, I'm extremely curious to find out. Here's the thing, there's a lot of DH mythology that you see in bits and pieces here. Would it make sense to the uninitiated? I'm not 100% certain. Does it enhance the DH books? Definitely yes. If you're looking at this book as a starting point, I'm going to have to say that you'll get more out of the book as a whole if you read the entire series. That said, don't let that scare you. The book is downright fun.

You know, I noticed that I slow down on reading a lot when I'm writing. And I feel itchy when I'm sitting down to read. Like, I should be doing something else. Darn it, those werewolves are burrowing deep into my brain. Not that I'm complaining. I'm just pointing out that I haven't been reading nearly as much as I was for a while there. However, since I've hit my 100 book goal for the year, I'm not stressing about it. In fact, I'm more pleased with the writing than I can express.

Wow. I really went on here, didn't I? I think it's time to go now.
