Good times!

Cole is off in Carmel visiting his dad's parents for Easter stuff. That means that I've had a fun-filled day of reading, writing and just being a general slug. Which seems to be about par for me lately.

Book #45 - Seduced by Moonlight (Meredith Gentry #3) by Laurell K. Hamilton - Merry's quest to earn the Unseelie throne before her cousin leads her from LA back to the seat of the Unseelie court where she has to defend herself against assassination attempts and her unscrupulous Aunt's desire for her to bed more and more men. To make matters even more unstable, objects of power have begun appearing and reacting to Merry's touch alone, breathing life into the dying magic of the Faerie courts and giving her power that has been lost for centuries. Watching Merry's power grow and the way she begins taking responsibility for all the men that are forced into her growing entourage makes this one of the more poignant books for me. There's one scene in particular at the end that drives home how much she cares for them. All of them. Not just the ones she's sleeping with or wants to sleep with, but even the ones who she's never cared for. If she has the power to free them from the pain and degradation they've been forced to endure at her Aunt's hands she'll find a way to protect them.

Book #46 - A Stroke of Midnight (Meredith Gentry #4) by Laurell K. Hamilton - Picking up where book 3 left off, Merry and her men find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation when a mortal and a Fey are killed during a press conference within the halls of the Sithen. As more and more of the Queen's men are deemed worthy of her touch and become part of her growing entourage (which doesn't please the Queen), Merry has to find a way to juggle their well-being, the well-being of all of Faerie and a way to let the magical world of the Fey and scientific world of the humans come together without destroying everything she's working toward. More power is revealed and more lovers step into Merry's bed.

Seriously, guys, I don't read all day. You'd never guess that the way I've been flying through these books, but the only thing I've been giving up lately is eating. Who needs to eat when you can read? I'm only halfway kidding about that. I honestly got lost for a bit in these books and kinda forgot to eat lunch until my stomach was growling at me and informing me that IT WAS TIME TO EAT, DAMMIT! Awesome! And, yes, I will be picking up the final two books that are out in the series. I'll probably order them as soon as I finish up here. Word!

Ooh! Time to hide some goodies!
