I took the time ...

You know, I really did mean to journal more yesterday. It's just that that AWESOME book review (you can take that as either the book was simply awesome or my review was) sapped me. So I did other things instead. For the record, my grandma completely cannot work our downstairs DVR. She was watching something and I swear that I had to go down every commercial break because she kept hitting the wrong button and getting the screen that asked her if she wanted to delete it or not. That took up a lot of my time. Especially when I then had to fast forward it back to the place she was at. I finally told her to just watch the commercials. :)

I've also been working diligently on making sure my Halloween party will go off without a hitch. I still need another main dish (I only have pumpkin soup at this point) but I'm not sure what I want. Boo. Back to the harvest themed recipes for me!

Randomly, I decided to watch The Vampire Diaries the other night. Umm ... I like it. A lot. The only downside is that it has the rather unfortunate abbreviation of VD so I'm going to have to fully type out the title of the show if I ever want to talk about it. VD. Heh. Anyway. There are some things I really like about it and some things that I think are ... okay. Paul Wesley (using a different name, mind you) played one of my favorite characters in Wolf Lake (A Lou Diamond Phillips werewolf show that was good but didn't last long) and he's just freaking HOT at this point. I think the girl who plays Elena is very good. I wasn't sold on Ian Somerhalder in the first episode, but I think he's really taken the part and bitch slapped it around. I'm hoping they do something more with Caroline because she's really grown on me. There's something sad and desperate about her that the actress makes very appealing. However, just like a lot of shows set in high school sometimes it gets a little too over the top angsty. This isn't a bad thing in some respects (because why do I want to watch a show where everything is peachy-keen all the time) but sometimes I just want to shake those kids and tell them to man up and stop being stupid.

Yeah. So I'm caught up on that show. I'm kinda excited to see where it goes.

I also finished another book.
Book #102 - The Black Cauldron (The Chronicles of Prydain - Book 2) by Lloyd Alexander - This book was good. I think it was sadder than the first. There was a lot of exploration of personal sacrifice. Taran gives up something that makes him see how beautiful the world around him is. Someone has to sacrifice their life to stop the cauldron from being used by a traitor. Adaon has to make a decision about whether or not to sacrifice his future happiness to help them succeed in their mission. All in all, a very satisfying book.

Good golly, sometimes I just go on and on and on. :)
Well, I'm done for now. I have things to do and such.
Later.
